Pat Wiseman Memorial Shield
Awarded to the Senior Player of the Year.
Patricia Ann Wiseman first associated with Western Suburbs Hockey Club in 1972 as a player supporter for her husband Bill. In the seventies, Pat was very much a part of the supporters’ group of the Senior Men & Ladies teams. Pat actually played hockey for a season or two with her sisters but decided she would be more at home supporting the Club and Players through the large social support network of the Club.
As each of her three children (Kylie, Amanda & Michael) turned 6 they found themselves playing E Grade for the club. Subsequently Pat would become more involved in Managing many E Grade, D Grade, C Grade B Grade, and Reserve Grade Teams as Manageress over many years.
Although Pat did not become an official member of the committee she was always there to support the committee in the organisation of events including annual sign-on days, stock takes, social events and breakups, etc.
After Pat’s unexpected passing in 2007, the Club decided to introduce the “Pat Wiseman Memorial Shield” in her Memory. A tribute Pat would have been so proud of. This award is presented to the club's senior player who receives the most votes in the IHA Player of the Year, no matter which grade they compete in.
